Extension Activities

2010-11

The department along with our post graduate students excavated a Nannangadi along with few remains of megalithic Iron implements from a nearby site- Irapuram- “the place name literally denotes the presence of iron ores’.

2013-14

As part of the extension activity the department organized an exhibition at Mannam L.P School Valayanchirangara by using the museum collections on March Date 2014. .

2016-17

The department along with our post graduate students proposed to continue with the second level excavation at Airapuram which is generally considered as a megalithic site.

Manju Foundation

A Charitable Society in the name “MANJU FOUNDATION” was established with the efforts of Alumni (Batch- 1997-2000) in memory of late Smt. Manju, former UG student in 2013. to extend support to financially backward students of S.S.V. College in their academic and health matters based on certain eligibility criteria.

The activities of the foundation will be supervised by Prof. T. Harilal and Prof. R. Krishana Kumar of the Department of History as patrons. It is decided to incorporate the service of Secretary of history Association every year as a member of the executive council along with six representatives from 1997-2000 Degree batch.

Extension lecture Series
Extension lecture Series is an initiative taken up by the Department of history this year with the objective of bringing eminent personalities to our college. Lectures and interactive sessions with these personalities would provide new insights to our students in their pursuit of learning history.
